Who can be a volunteer?

Any Marist! Anyone over 18 years old who has some connection with the Marist Global Family: ex-students, parents, teachers, professionals, tradespeople, and collaborators generally, young adults, members of the Association, Brothers …

Long-term volunteering opportunities - longer than six months

Are you a professional with skills to offer a variety of ministries focused on children and young people – teacher, social worker, health professional, tradesman, musician ….?

Or are you a university student or high school graduate thinking about taking a gap year? We offer long-term opportunities within the Marist family joining with them in their mission.

Only have a short time to volunteer? – three to six months

There are shorter-term placements available where your knowledge and abilities would be most valuable to our international Marist projects and communities.

These include short-term programs, allowing volunteers to help at schools and in social works. Three months is a common time for a Visitor’s visa and there have been many Australian Volunteers who have included a placement as part of their wider travel plans.

Where might you go?

Marist Volunteers may be welcomed in some of the eighty countries in the Marist world and in ministries within the Australian Marist province. You are free to indicate your preferences broadly or in a more focussed way and Bridge Builders can explore possibilities on your behalf.

Since the establishment, in Rome, of the Marist international volunteering network, Collaboration for mission, international (Cmi) in 2012, 124 Australians have completed volunteering assignments in 30 countries worldwide.

Some options include Australia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Philippines, Vanuatu, Samoa, Fiji, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, USA, Canada, Germany, South Sudan, South Africa, Lebanon and Brazil.
