Dr Stephen Cronin

Marist College Ashgrove 1973-1977.

Has composed numerous pieces including incidental music for stage and film, television, electronica, dance and concert music, commissioned, performed and recorded by leading Australian and overseas orchestras and groups.

Wrote the music for the 1986 Papal Mass for Pope John Paul II’s Australian visit.

Major awards include the inaugural Paul Lowin Prize, House Songs, Albert H Maggs Award, the Percy Brier Memorial Prize for Music Composition, a Vienna Modern Masters recording project, a Rotary Foundation Scholarship, and the Dalley-Scarlett Memorial Scholarship.

Served as Faculty member of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University from 1986 to 2016, holding a range of roles as Head of Composition, Head of Music Materials, and Program Director – Postgraduate Coursework.
