Bishop Tim Norton

Marist College Eastwood 1970-1976.

Joined the Society of the Divine Word in 1984. Took final vows in 1990 and ordained a priest in 1991.

Worked 6 years in Mexico City in a densely crowded barrio principally in parish ministry.  Ministry with drug gangs, marriage encounters and lay ministers of the Word.

Diploma in Spiritual Direction, Hear of Life, Melbourne (1997).

SVD Provincial of Australia, New Zealand and Thailand (2005 - 2013).

Director of SVD sabbatical courses, Nemi Italy (2014 - 2021).

Appointed Auxiliary Bishop for Brisbance (2021)

Br Luke Smythe fms

St Gregory’s College Campbelltown.

With the exception of 2 years, Brother Luke was at St Gregory’s College for 75 years.

Taught agriculture and science, was a farmer, ran the dairy for over 40 years, networked with local farmers, managed dairy and beef cattle herds, established a College Rodeo that ran for 40 years, coached student sports teams and supervised boarders’ dorms.

Luke was a special man with a very kind heart. He represents the very heart and soul of St Greg’s.

Terence Curley

St Francis Xavier’s College Hamilton and St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill.

Considered by many to be one of greatest fullbacks ever to play rugby for Australia.

Debuted for Australia in 1957, aged 18.

Played 11 tests for Australia, including tours of Britain and New Zealand.

In 1958, at the age of 20, retired from rugby and joined the Marist Brothers, which included impactful teaching posts at Marist Ashgrove and St Joey’s.

Later left the Brothers to pursue a career in law.

Archbishop Emeritus Leonard Faulkner

Sacred Heart College Adelaide 1940-1941.

Ordained to priesthood in Rome, 1950.

Served as Diocesan Chaplain to the Young Christian Workers in 1955.

Appointed Administrator of St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral in 1957, as well as Director of Vocations.

Appointed Bishop of Townsville in 1967, taking the motto, “As one who serves”.

Worked closely to raise the profile of Aboriginal people in the life of the diocese, and ordained the first Aboriginal Deacon, Monte Prior.

Appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Adelaide in 1983.

Installed as Archbishop in 1985, remaining in Adelaide until retirement in 2001.

Was invited to be an observer to the first democratic election in South Africa in 1994.

Passionately involved in engaging the laity in leadership, ecumenical and inter-faith initiatives and support for migrants and refugees, chairing a number of committees within the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, including the Committees for the Laity, for Family and For Life, for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Joined the Australian Army as a Piper in 1986.

Joined the religious life at 19.

Professed a Monk of the Order of St Paul the 1st Hermit.

Ordained a Priest in 1997.

QLD Police Chaplain based at headquarters in Brisbane.

Full-time Police Chaplain based at Surfers Paradise QLD.

Received the QLD Police Commissioners 'Badge of Merit'.

Ordained the 7th Bishop of the Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes in 2014.

Bishop James Foley DD DPh

Marist College Ashgrove 1960-1966.

Ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Brisbane in 1973.

Received Licentiate and Doctorate in Philosophy from Leuven University, Belgium.

Taught at Pius XII Seminary (Qld) from 1981 to 1992

Appointed the Bishop of Cairns in 1992.

Member of International Catechetical Commission, Rome.

Member of International Committee for English in the Liturgy.

Member of The Company, Senate and Queensland Chapter of Australian Catholic University.

Br Peter Rodney fms

Marist College Ashgrove 1963-1971.

Studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

Appointed Provincial Councillor 1995-2001.

Appointed as a General Councillor on the Marist Brothers General Administration in Rome for nine years.

Served as the Rector of the Marist Asia-Pacific Centre in Manila, The Philippines, from 2011 to 2017.

Provincial Councillor in the Province of Australia 2018-2022.
