With the exception of 2 years, Brother Luke was at St Gregory’s College for 75 years.

Taught agriculture and science, was a farmer, ran the dairy for over 40 years, networked with local farmers, managed dairy and beef cattle herds, established a College Rodeo that ran for 40 years, coached student sports teams and supervised boarders’ dorms.

Luke was a special man with a very kind heart. He represents the very heart and soul of St Greg’s.

St Francis Xavier’s College Hamilton

Selected to represent Australia at the 1956 Olympics in swimming, placing 5th in the 100m Backstroke. Won a Silver Medal in the 110 yard backstroke at the Empire Games in 1958.

Considered by many to be one of greatest fullbacks ever to play rugby for Australia.

Debuted for Australia in 1957, aged 18.

In 1958, at the age of 20, retired from rugby and joined the Marist Brothers, which included impactful teaching posts at Marist Ashgrove and St Joey’s.

Later left the Brothers to pursue a career in law.
