Edward Larkin

Australian International Rugby Union representative in 1903.

Joined the Metropolitan Police Force in 1903, rising to rank of First Constable.

Helped establish Rugby League in Australia as the First Secretary of Mew South Wales Rugby League in 1909.

Elected as Member for Willoughby in 1913.

Lloyd Brodrick

Australian Ambassador to Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania, resident in Warsaw since 2019. 

Previously posted overseas in Baghdad,The Hague and Geneva, and served with the Truce Monitoring Group on Bougainville in 1998.

Lloyd was Vice Captain in his final year at Marist Brothers Eastwood.

Elected to represent the electorate of McMillanin 1998 and re-elected in 2001.

Served as: a Director of the Victorian Energy Networks Corporation; Chair of the Victorian Government's Sustainable Timber Industry Council; Chairman of the Australian Government's $1 billion Regional Development Australia Fund Advisory Panel; a Director of two Aboriginal organisations in the Kimberley, Waardi Limited and Nyimarr Limited; a Founding Director of the Regional Australia Institute; Chief Executive Officer of Wunan Foundation; Executive Director of the National Catholic Education Commission

Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for "significant service to rural and regional development, to the advancement of Indigenous welfare, and to the Australian Parliament" in June 2018

Graham West

St Gregory’s College Campbelltown 1986-1991.

Appointed to the ministry from 2007 to 2010, at various times held the portfolios of Minister for Sport and Recreation, Minister for Gaming and racing, Minister Assisting the Premier on Veterans Affairs, Minister for Youth, Minister for Volunteering, Minister for Juvenile Justice.

Left Parliament in 2011 to return to the community sector, becoming the CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society in NSW, national Vice-President of the Society and finally the National President of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia.

The Hon. Lionel Frost Bowen AC

Marcellin College Randwick 1935-1937.

Elected to Randwick Municipal Council in 1949, serving as Alderman until 1962.

Served twice as Mayor (1951 and 1955).

Elected to NSW State Parliament for the seat of Randwick in 1962.

Elected to Federal Parliament for the Seat of Kingsford-Smith in 1969.

Served as a Minister in the Whitlam Government, as Minister for Trade, Attorney General and Deputy Prime Minister in the Hawke Government.

Appointed Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in 1991.

The Hon. Kevin Rudd AC

Marist College Ashgrove 1969-1971.

Served as Australia’s 26th Prime Minister from 2007 to 2010, 2013. Served as Foreign Minister from 2010 to 2012.

On 13 February 2008, delivered the National Apology to the Stolen Generations in Australia and committed to “closing the gap” between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Currently President and CEO of Asia Society in New York, President of the Asia Society Policy Institute, Distinguished Statesman at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Distinguished Fellow at Chatham House and the Paulson Institute at the University of Chicago, Senior Fellow at the Belfer Centre at the Harvard Kennedy School, Chair of UNICEF Sanitation and Water for All Committee, Chair of the Board of International Peace Institute, and Co-Chair of the National Apology Foundation. 

The RT Hon Chief Sir Julius Chan GCL GCMG KBE PC MP

Marist College Ashgrove 1954-1958.

Served as Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea 1976, 1985, 1992-1994)

Served as Minister of Finance 1972-1977, 1985-1986, 1992-1994.

Elected Prime Minister on two separate occasions, 1980-1982 and 1994-1997.

Received Knighthood of the British Empire and appointed member of the Privy Council in 1981 by Her Majesty the Queen.

Since 2007 has been the Regional Member for the province of New Ireland and Governor of the province.

Proud Old Boy of Marist Ashgrove and chose to launch his memoir, Playing the Game, at the College in 2016. Sir Julius’ three sons are also Old Boys of the College.
